Blog Tour: No Brainer By A. J. Lape with 2 Giveaways

Quote - “I love you with an eternal intensity, Darcy, and if that’s what you need, then okay… for now.” Dylan Taylor, No Brainer

Blurb -
Two weeks before junior year, Darcy hops a plane to Orlando for a little R&R with her best friend Dylan and his family. Fresh off the heels of solving three murders in Valley, you'd think she'd sit back and enjoy the vacation capital of the world … maybe if you're a noun. Darcy Walker, however, is nothing but verb.

Before her feet hit the Orlando soil, she's meddling in the disappearance of a five-year-old boy who vanished six months earlier.

With authorities still no closer to solving the case, Darcy is shanghaied by her impulsivity and runs headlong into that proverbial burning building, convinced she can bring him home.

She travels down a road that not only follows this missing child but branches off into the corrupt and sinister world of mob activity when she tampers in a case on which Dylan's detective grandfather is working.

After a near disastrous midnight meeting in a warehouse and a date with a mechanical bull, Darcy realizes she might've bitten off more than she can chew. Add the boiling flirtationship with her best friend and the appearance of his romantic rival, and she is in over her head.

Will she survive a life of flirting with death too easily? Or will her flirtationship with Dylan become the actual death of her instead?

For a girl with a habit of finding dead bodies, No Brainer gives Darcy Walker more of the same…surprising twists and turns…and running for her life.

Excerpt -
INIQUITY ENGINEER
Kyd grabbed me by the arm, dragging me to his side. “Give us some privacy,” he said to Tricky and Zander. Both stepped about six feet over. “I don’t want you hurt, Legs,” he murmured. “Lola Medina’s nothing but trouble. She always has been, and here I am dropping you off in a seedy area as your brain runs amuck. I need more information, and for the life of me, I can’t determine how you conned me into doing this. I’m having second thoughts, and as strange as it sounds, I honestly feel a bond with you.”
Introducing Kyd, Romeo extraordinaire.
His eyes burned a light, drowning green. Almost tearful, like my pain filled him up so much that one step inside would pull us both under. Why was it that the guys who were players, always knew how to talk to girls?
I gave him a lot of teeth, trying my best to look like a flirt. “It’s the brotherhood,” I grinned.
“Stop it,” he warned. Heck, maybe he was like Dylan. “I care, and I have this drowning feeling you don’t care enough about yourself to even think about your safety. What happened to you, Legs, that makes you not consider whether you’ll live or die?”
How in the world should I respond to that? I exhaled six years worth of disappointment and frustration but realized all that did was give me a headache. “To answer your question,” I said tightly, “life happened. Sometimes, life doesn’t give you a choice or ask permission. All you can attempt to control is how you respond to what it throws at you. What’s going to happen is going to happen, Kyd. I appreciate the concern, but Zander and I will be fine.”
Mother blankety-blank-blank, I cursed in my mind. I needed to take up cursing or find an outlet to release the guilt-slash-stress people inflicted upon me.

~~Kj's Review~~
Darcy is back and headed to Florida for some sun and surf with her best friend Dylan and his family. Vacation time before school in a paradise right? No…Darcy sees a little boy who has been missing for six months and is sure she can save him. She also manages to get mixed up in Dylan’s grandfather’s case. Add a cute bad boy to the mix to annoy Dylan and a hot mess that’s his sister to annoy Darcy, and make her wonder why she’s so jealous. If that wasn’t enough Darcy is playing with really bad men in her case to find the missing child. With the stakes high and wrong choice Darcy we all know it’s going to be a heck of a ride.
The second book is as great as the first, I just adore Darcy. I am always wondering what’s next and no disappointments there, she just keeps on a trucking. A. J. Lape has written a series that I personally cannot get enough of, and that constantly surprises and delights me. I seriously love Darcy Walker! Many thanks to the author for gifting me this book so I could read and review it, the pleasure was all mine. I give this book 5 stars….and wish I could give it more.

And here we have the cover of the first Darcy Walker book, Grade A Stupid...just so you can go get this book so you can enjoy them both if you haven't already.

~~Kj's Review of Grade A Stupid~~
Darcy Walker seems to be a typical 15 year old girl, has issues with the way she looks, her hair, her height, pretty much the norm for a teenager. But that’s where it stops, Darcy has a real bad habit of doing, well, really stupid things. She has a best friend Dylan, who is a hunk and seems to be very interested in her, but that’s not how Darcy sees it. She’s attracted to the bad boys that love ‘em and leave ‘em.
She also has a habit of finding trouble, such as the dead body in the dumpster at school. Her father despairs that she will ever learn to stop this, but Darcy keeps on going. She finds she has to know the whys and where fors of the situation and save poor Oscar from a lifetime in jail. Oh yes and need I mention her nemesis; Ivy the popular cute girl?

I loved this book, it just tickled me from the word go. I couldn’t stop reading it, and I will forever root for Darcy. I would recommend this book to the younger set right up through my age (older than old). A.J. Lape has penned a winner and I seriously cannot wait to read the second, this book is one of my favorites and I will keep it on the the top of my lengthy love list. I rate this book 5 stars, and really wish I could go higher.
