Kj's Review

Morrigan had been in a lot of homes, she was used to people calling her odd or different because she was just that. She didn’t expect people to like her, so she was never disappointed when things didn’t work out. She didn’t have much, but she had her two cats, her sketchpad, and she had her powers. And….she was about to find out she had a completely other life to be lived. 

  I felt this story was written so I was right there with the characters, feeling their emotions, and balling my fists while they fought. I loved that about this book. When you can get lost in a story as I did, that makes a book magical, and Ms. DeLuca achieved that. I recommend this book to anyone, it is a book not to be missed. Many thanks to her for providing me the book to read and review!! 

The Cast of Morrigan

Every writer dreams of seeing their books become a movie. I would love to see any of my novels made into a film, but I think Morrigan would be the most fun on the big screen. This is my first fantasy novel and I would love to see the costumes, castles, special effects, and of course, the cast come to life.  Usually when it's time to pick out my cast, my kids are the ones I turn to for guidance for who is hot on the teen scene. However, while Morrigan is still a YA novel, most of the characters are adults. Morrigan and her love interest, Filtiarn, are really the only two under thirty. So this time around, I asked a few of my beta readers to help me out. Tiff, Steph, and Jackie from The Sisters Elemental etsy shop spent hours chatting with me on face book until we had just the right cast assembled. Whether you read Morrigan yet or not, you will have to admit that this all star cast would definitely make for a film worth watching.

Morrigan- Kat Dennings

Choosing Morrigan was one of the hardest casting decisions I've made. She can't be some weak little damsel. Morrigan is a strong woman, and I wanted an actress who could portray that well. I think Kat would be the perfect choice. She is uniquely beautiful, but strong. I can see her doing some serious Lucy Lawless worthy butt kicking. She doesn't look exactly the way I envision Morrigan. I would like her hair a little darker and curlier, and darker eyes, but I'm sure Hollywood can handle that.

Filtiarn- Emile Hirsh

You'll have to visualize the dreadlocks for now, but I can definitely see this guy in a animal skin tunic. I picked him because he was the star of Into the Wild which is about the same type of escapades my husband, Timmie, experienced while hitchhiking cross country. Since Tiarn's looks and personality were based on Timmie, Emile seemed liked the perfect choice to play him.

Ceridwyn-Melanie Lynskey

Ceridwyn is Morrigan's mother. Melanie definitely has the regal look needed to play the queen of Tír na NÓg.

Hecate-Anjelica Huston

Hecate is Morrigan's grandmother. I describe her as being ancient, and of course,  Anjelica is still beautiful and is only in her late fifties. I still think with a little make up to make her look older, she would be the perfect choice for Hecate. She already has experience with magic since she was the priestess in the Mists of Avalon which is one of my all-time favorite books/movies.

Arianrhod-Brit Marling 

Despite being the rival for the throne, I always visualized Arianrhod as being almost angelically beautiful. Recently I got a movie to review called The Sound of My Voice and Brit was the star. As soon as I saw her, I knew I had found my Arianrhod.  Can't you visualize her in a renaissance gown?

Condon/Dunham-Murray Melvin

This is a dual role. Condom and Dunham are the identical twins who man the Gateway between our world and Tír na NÓg. Each one has a very different personality, and I think Murray would be able to play both parts perfectly.

Alden-Anthony Hopkins

I love Anthony Hopkins and I'm so glad to have found the perfect role for him in one of my movies. Alden is a blind old man that Morrigan meets in her travels. He has a very special connection with her.

Brigid-Kathy Bates

Who else can you pick to play the village elder?  Even when I was writing the story, I saw Kathy's face on this character, though she'll have to dye her hair red for the part.

Deirdre-Amy Adams

Ariarnhod's red-haired lady in waiting and daughter of Brigid. Amy was the only choice for this role.

Caedmon-Jason Momoa

Originally, Tiff had suggested Jason for the role of Tiarn. He was a little too old for that part, but he was just too darn hot to leave out, so I gave cast him as the captain of the guard.

Willow-Gabrielle Union

Willow is a faery. Morrigan's interactions with her are pretty magical, but you'll have to read the story to learn more.

Well, that pretty much wraps up the cast of Morrigan. These are all the main roles, and even a few of the smaller parts. As always, if you've read the book and can think of someone who would fits better, I would love to hear about them.

Excerpt:

I focus on him and clench my dagger in my hand. The sea of voices swells, and I’m certain I can pick out Miranda’s deranged shrieking, yelling over and over again, “End him! End him!”

Falin Asha’s brown eyes fix on me and it looks for a second like he’s crying. That can’t be right, though. I hover just out of his reach, staring at him. “What’s going on?”

He smiles crookedly and brushes his hair back out of his face. “It’s going to be okay, all right? Remember that.”

I’m so thrown by his comment that I am utterly unprepared for what he does next. The knife in his hand snakes out toward me, and I skitter away from him to the left.  He knows how I react, however, and he moves with me, my mirror image. He darts for me and does the unthinkable, something that spells the end to the fight and me along with it: he grabs hold of my striking arm at the wrist. A low gasp runs around the Colosseum, growing in pitch until it’s a rushing echo in my ears. I try and fumble for the Balisong on my belt, hoping I can flick it open and use it, but Falin Asha is there before me. He doesn’t knock my hand away, just holds his over it. He pulls me closer to him and sucks in a deep breath. 

“Don’t let them see,” he hisses. With that, I feel a twisting movement between our two bodies, and then his eyes go wide. He looks stunned, the way Elin children do when they fall and they’re unsure whether they’re supposed to cry or not. I look down and see his own knife submerged up to the handle in his stomach. A cracking, bubbling noise comes out of his throat, and he smiles slowly at me. The whole Colosseum has gone deadly silent. I can think nothing other than this: What have you done? What on earth have you gone and done?

Kj's Review of Hope

  Allison, with the Order, has killed Damien and defeated the Rising for now. Lilith has taken the Rising underground for the time being, to re-order and recoup. Lilith has every intention of carrying on Damien’s work, in fact she has the Order on her to do list.

  Allison and David are engaged and they are happily headed toward their wedding. It is a very emotion filled time for all involved, happiness is the order of the day. In fact Allison doesn’t even know where they are going for their honeymoon, but as long as she is with David it doesn’t matter. But as we all know, evil is never far away and the trouble is brewing more with each passing day. Who is the descendant that will save the world, and where does she come from?

   Again, Mrs. Jones has hit the ball out of the park, this is another awesome book. I recommend that everyone go out and get Power and Hope and enjoy!! I would like to thank Theresa M Jones for allowing me to read and review her books, it has been a pleasure. I am looking forward to the next book, I am quite sure it will be as terrific as the first two.

Kj's Review of Power

  Allison has been having nightmares of an evil man chasing her, he’s getting closer all the time. She doesn’t understand why he’s chasing her, but the next time she has the dream, she finds a power inside herself to push him away. Completely confused at what has happened, she learns a little when an old family friend shows up to try and help her. 

  Hurt and in the hospital she meets David, one of the Order who can help her to develop the power she needs to use to defeat Damien, the evil man. Turns out Damien thinks she’s the descendant who has been prophesied to save the world. As she settles into her new life of training to fight the evil she starts seeing David as more than a teacher. What will happen next?

  This book rocked, I am always up for a good battle between good and evil and this book did not disappoint. I was hooked from the beginning and could not wait to see more. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a great paranormal story…and the fact that it’s part of a trilogy just means we will have even more!!

A heaviness settles over the table and Andella is no longer giggling. "Why did you do it, Piper Willow?"

A large hand reaches toward me and I look up through my blurred vision to find Andulen's hand atop mine. Rush is also touching me, and though she's clear across the table, I feel Andella's calming presence as well.

"Child. You cannot fit your life into a square coffer. It will find a way to spill out over the sides and explore that which surrounds it.
